Larry Doby hit a homerun and had 2 RBI and Lefty Smith was able to finish what
he started and was credited with a complete game as the Cincinnati Royalty
defeated the Savannah Rumrunners 6 to 3 at The Palace.

Savannah fell behind quickly as the Cincinnati offense came through in the
first inning scoring 2 runners on 3 hits. The biggest moment was provided by
Ralph Kiner who brought a roar from the partisan The Palace fans when he
cleared the fences for a two-run home run. Cincinnati had 9 hits for the
night.

The victory was credited to Smith(1-0) who went the distance, allowing 3 runs.
Robin Roberts(1-2) was the losing pitcher. He allowed a few too many
baserunners giving up 8 hits and 4 walks in 5 innings.
