First baseman George Scott had 2 base hits as the Bristol Blasters defeated
the Pittsburgh Bichipoos by a score of 5 to 4 at Veterans Stadium.
Bristol took the lead off Andy Hassler in the first inning scoring a single
run on 2 hits. After an out was recorded, Manny Trillo smacked a single.
Mike Schmidt stepped into the batter's box and he drew a walk. Scott then
laced a one-base hit scoring the run. Bristol and Pittsburgh each finished
the afternoon with 7 hits.
The victory went to Rick Reuschel(1-0) who went 6 innings, allowing 2 runs.
Rollie Fingers gained credit for his 1st save. Hassler(0-1) was hit with the
loss.
