The Minnesota Loons ended a long winless drought and easily topped the
Sterling Silver Sluggers; the final score was 9 to 2.
Don Newcombe(2-4) pitched well for Minnesota in their victory. He was reached
for 8 hits and 5 walks in 8 and 1/3 innings seeing his ERA drop from 5.80 to
4.99. Minnesota finished with 16 hits while Sterling ended up with 8.
Gready McKinnis(0-4) took the loss. He was not very effective, surrendering 6
runs in 2 and 2/3 innings. 'After the stretch we have been through lately,
this victory is especially sweet' offered Chris Kaufman. Now, we just have
to make this the norm - not the exception!'
