WEB GEMS- Top 1st: Mark Grace robbed Gerald Williams of a base hit.
Catcher Ivan Rodriguez touched them all and had 3 RBI as the Pinch Quicks won
at Olympic Stadium in dramatic fashion over the Bristol Blasters, the final
score, 9 to 7.
Pinch won the game with a rally in the bottom of the 9th inning with 2 runs
utilizing 2 base hits. After an out was recorded, Jim Edmonds kicked off the
action when he slapped a one-base hit. One out later, Rodriguez stepped in
and he popped a two-run clout over the fence giving Pinch the win and sending
the home town fans into a frenzy. Pinch kept the scorekeepers busy in the
2nd inning which saw them plate 2 runs on 4 hits, the 3rd inning which saw
them score 2 runs on 3 hits and the 9th inning tallying 2 runs. This was the
kind of game that many fans love as the lead changed hands 5 times.
The win went to Brian Bohanon(1-0) who allowed no runs in 1 inning. Mike
Bielecki(0-1) was charged with the loss in relief.
