In a tight game it was the Denver Dingers 5, the Cincinatti Royalty 3 at The
Launch Palace.
Cincinatti was unable to claim the lead after Denver went ahead in the top of
the 4th inning plating an isolated run on 3 base hits. Both teams finished
the game with 10 hits.
Jim Barr(1-1) got the win allowing 3 runs in 5 innings. Barr got help from
Pete Vuckovich who was credited with his 2nd save. Jackie Brown(1-1) was hit
with the loss. He gave up 9 hits and 3 walks in 7 innings.
'I always am most impressed when a pitcher finds a way to win even without his
best stuff,' Wayne Stanko said after the game. 'Barr did not have command of
his pitches most of the afternoon, but he proved he really knew how to
pitch!'
