In a two run game the Denver Dingers got by the Pittsburgh Bichipoos by the
score of 3 to 1.
Denver erupted with the game winning runs in the 9th inning with 2 runs
utilizing 2 base hits. Piper Davis opened up the inning nicely when he drew
a walk. Elbie Fletcher stepped up next and he laid down a sacrifice bunt.
One out later, Sam Chapman then reached on an error resulting in a run. Bob
Elliott stepped in and he delivered a single. Spider Jorgensen came up to
bat and delivered a base-hit scoring the final run of the inning. Dizzy
Trout was great in relief and recorded his 8th save.
The winning pitcher was Murry Dickson(4-3) who allowed no runs in 2/3 of an
inning. Walt Masterson(1-1) was tagged with the loss in relief.
With this win, Denver has a 16-11 record. They have been 5-5 lately. With
this loss, Pittsburgh has a 4-6 record of late, 13-11 overall.
