In a two run game the Pittsburgh Bichipoos got by the Iowa MoonlightGraham by
the score of 5 to 3.
Pittsburgh took the lead for good in the top of the 4th inning scoring 2 runs.
After an out was recorded, Chili Davis got things rolling when he drew a
walk. Bob Higginson came next and he bombed a two-run dinger. Iowa made it
exciting in the 9th, but they were unable to push the needed runs across.
The winning pitcher was Kent Mercker(4-0) who allowed no runs in 2 and 1/3
innings. Ricky Bottalico recorded the save, his 1st. Mike Remlinger(2-1) was
the loser. His ERA ballooned from 0.50 to 1.17 as he allowed 2 runs in 5
innings.
Craig White was subdued after the ballgame, 'That one really hurts. If our
guys had simply played more fundamentally sound, we could have won that one.
That is what really ticks me off!'
