The Gallifrey Time Lords nipped the Bristol Blasters 5 to 4 at The TARDIS in a
hard fought contest.
Gallifrey brought 3 runs across the plate in the 5th inning with the help of 4
hits. Pee Wee Reese got things going when he ripped a solo home run. After
an out was recorded, Jesse Douglas stepped up to the plate and he doubled.
Bob Boyd then stroked a base-hit scoring one more run. George Kell followed
next and he stroked a one-base hit. Seabiscuit Wilkes came to the plate and
drew a walk to load the bases. Pat Mullin added to the rally and hit a
sacrifice fly scoring the final run of the inning. Bristol made it exciting
in the 9th, but they were unable to push the needed runs across.
Gene Richardson(2-0) went 7 innings allowing 4 runs for the victory.
Richardson was helped out by Booker McDaniel who recorded his 1st save. Vern
Bickford(1-2) took the loss. Gallifrey knocked him around a bit, as he gave
up 5 runs in 4 and 1/3 innings.
'I didn't have my best stuff but sometimes you just get lucky,' Richardson
said, 'this was one of those times.'
