Bernie Williams blasted a homerun and had 2 RBI as the Cincinatti Royalty
topped the Savannah Rumrunners by a score of 6 to 3 at Dodger
Stadium.
Cincinatti had 3 runs cross the plate in the 7th inning when they had 4 base
hits. After an out was recorded, Williams began the rally when he laced a
base-knock. Jose Vizcaino was next and he laced a single. After another
out, Joe Girardi then drew a walk. Paul Molitor followed and he delivered a
base-hit driving in a run. Travis Fryman came up to bat and drew a walk to
load the bases. Craig Counsell added his contribution to the rally and
stroked a single adding another two runs to their total. Both teams totaled
9 hits on the afternoon.
The winning pitcher was Pat Hentgen(1-0) who allowed 2 runs in 6 innings. Tom
Glavine(1-1) was hit with the loss. He pitched 6 and 2/3 innings allowing 6
hits and 4 walks.
